Why warm lemon water?
We’ve all seen health and fitness influencers talk about this somewhere along the line. It almost sounds like a cliche to say; “I started my day with a warm lemon water” !
But as someone who has struggled tiresomely with bloating and digestion issues for years, I thought it couldn't hurt to try the trend. When I started noticing the difference, I thought I would look into the research behind lemons and their benefit to us!
Here’s what I found!
DIGESTION AND DETOXIFICATION
Lemons live up to their reputation of assisting in digestion and therefore also help with detoxification. This is becasue Lemons stimulate the production of bile which kickstarts metabolism in the digestive tract which can also result in weight loss if taken prior to a meal.
Lemons also help with detoxification in the lymphatic system, with hydration and good liver function.
ANTIOXIDANT AND IMMUNITY BOOSTING
Lemons are an antioxidant which is something that helps keep skin, hair and nails healthy and glowing. As well as being very hight in vitamin C which boosts immunity as well as being the essential vitamin for the synthisis of Collagen which is the most abundant protein in the skin, hair and nails.
INCREASED ENERGY AND MOOD
Lemons are alkalinaising to the body which means they fight again acidity buildup. They are also negatively charged ions and when these enter the body, they naturally increase energy production! Even simply smelling lemons has been found to reduce stress and improve mood.
So what does this mean for you?
You really should give lemon water / lemon essential oil a try! Whether you're joining me with a warm lemon water in the mornings or adding lemons to your water during the day, or even buying an essential oil supplement to diffuse in your home.
You really cant go wrong with adding a lemon in ~ completely natural and so so so good for you!
