I heard 'My Jesus' a while ago but recently stumbled over it again and it's become a firm favourite over the past week.
'My Jesus' is a beautiful song about the very personal God that we serve. In the Song Story, Anne talks about how the song was birthed out of a time of suffering and grief when her older brother was killed in a car accident. She speaks of the beauty of the intimate nature of Jesus and how He's not just our Lord or our God, but He's My Lord and My God.
That's what sets the Christian Faith apart from all the other so called faiths in the world today ~ our God is living and alive, He made you uniquely and He wants to know you uniquely.
Even when the darkness comes and tragedy strikes, it's Jesus that we hold onto. He said that we can trust Him and that in Him we have all we need to over come.
(Matthew 11vs28~30 MSG)
"“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
It's a gift to know Jesus and a gift to be able to share Him with the world. Am I'm so thankful for people like Anne who are putting this truth into words.
"He makes a way where there ain't no way
Rises up from an empty grave
Ain't no sinner that He can't save
Let me tell you 'bout my Jesus
His love is strong and His grace is free
And the good news is I know that He
Can do for you what He's done for me
Let me tell you 'bout my Jesus
And let my Jesus change your life"
