Are you hearing from God? ~ Priscilla Shirer

I listened to a really great talk by Priscilla Shirer where she discussed prayer life and debunked the common thought that we can't hear from God. She speaks about the ways that we are limited in hearing His voice but also how to position ourselves to find His voice strongly in our life!

Today I'm going to share a few things I pulled from the clip to inspire and motivate you to position yourself to hear from God.

"The enemy wants you to believe that you need a seminary degree to hear from God."

Yes he does!

The enemy wants you to think that to have the kind of fervent relationship with God that hears His voice and walks intimately with Him, you need to be something more - something more special. And that's just not true!

But if he can keep you convinced of that, then he'll keep you always waiting for someone else to share what God is saying.

It's not that God's not talking to you, you may not be positioning yourself to hear clearly.

"You can POSITION yourself to hear from God and there is POWER in your posture. In both the spiritual and the physical."

In the spiritual, this is a positioning of your heart being ready and eager, expectant to hear God's voice speaking directly to you. Through the moving of the Holy Spirit and the pages on Scripture, we can wait expectantly for fulfilment of God's voice and the promise if holds.

If you don't expect to hear the voice of God, you never will because you will always pass it off as something else.

Keep you heart filled with expectation and desire, stay in anticipation to hear God speaking to you.

(John 10vs14 NIV)

"I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me."

If you are in the family go the Lord, you equipped to hear the voice of the Good Shepherd - but are you prepared? But even if you are still far from God, He still promises;

(John 10vs16 NIV) "I have other sheepthat are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd."

You are designed to hear from God!

But if distractions are pulling you away, you can pray for Him to carve them out and illuminate Himself above the chaos.

Psalm 27 is a wonderful example of a time when David records how he would've fallen short, he would've failed under it all but instead he stayed strong. Because his hopes where set above and his focus was in the living God and not what he was experiencing, he was able to stay the course.

(Psalm 27vs13~14 NIV)

"I remain confident of this:

I will see the goodness of the Lord

in the land of the living.

14 Wait for the Lord;

be strong and take heart

and wait for the Lord."

There are many opportunities to slip in our world, but when our hearts are positioned to hear from the one who made it all, we have the power to overcome.

You could’ve slipped except that you can expect on God.

Another way to position ourselves is physically and the Prophet Habakkuk shows us this. In the book of Habakkuk, we are reminded of the privilege of casting all our concerns to the Lord.... but then getting up and physically preparing to hear from God. In Habakkuk's place, he literally went to the top of the watchtower.

(Habakkuk 2vs1 NIV)

"I will stand at my watch

and station myself on the ramparts;

I will look to see what he will say to me,

and what answer I am to give to this complaint."

Now of course, we don't have watchtowers, but we have e been given the most powerful privileged of choosing to position of selves, our days and our lives, as well as our spiritual ears to hear from the Lord.

Don't forget that relieving from God first takes listening!

You're not exempt from close communion and intercession with the Lord, you are fully equipped to hear form Him if you put yourself in to position! A position that takes heart, soul and mind!
