If there was an hour where darkness reigned when Jesus walked the earth, we can’t expect there to be any less darkness when He’s gone. Today we’ll walk through the moments after the last supper, the preparation for one of Jesus’ friends to betray Him

In the New International Version
- Devotional Thought
To have an enemy betray you is one thing, to have a close friend do the same is another. Judas’ betrayal paved way for the enemies to come in closer to Jesus and when our friends are disloyal, it also opens a door for the enemy to take a hold. But even when they came near and took Jesus. His mind stayed with the father. And when he went to pray and His friends continued to lose their closeness and alertness, He still submitted to the fathers hand.
If Jesus who was there in the beginning, I’d reigning now and will be there in the end submitted to the will of the Father even when it was painful and destroying to Himself, then how much more must we.
But we can live in the will of the Father and still find ourselves stumbling under the stones our enemies and friends throw at us. Because it’s in those moments where we are reminded even more strongly of how this is not our life, but the Lords and how we can not control the world around us, but He can. And knowing the end from the beginning, He can reach in and work a miracle by strengthening ourselves to endure the road set before us.
If Jesus, knowing what was going to take place still picked up His cross and walked forward, how much more should we. We won’t be facing execution or crucifixion, but there will be times when it’s too hard for us and we want to stop…. Those are the times to remember where Jesus was and what He was doing when He cried out “not mine, but your will be done.”
- Passage to focus on
““Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.””
Luke 22:42 NIV
- Image for today
"If you are willing, take this cup from me."
- Prayer
Father
When you were arrested, it was one of your friends who organised it. When you prayed in the garden, you asked for the pain to be taken away. And yet you still picked up the cross to continue. Every part of the Easter story reminds us that there is nothing you did not experience yourself on earth. And yet you still forgave and showed kindness. Help us to do the same.
- Active idea
There will always be things that seem impossible for us. Too hard, too painful, too much. what are these things in your life and how can you trust the Father's will in them? Journal in prayer about this.
Thank you for joining me today! Hope to see you again soon!
Have a blessed Lent
