Leaders come and leaders go and the imprint they leave on the lives of those they have intended to steward is detrimental. We have seen so many rise up in the leadership of the church that have slaughtered the faith of others. We have seen so many rise up in the church that have not modelled their life after what they preached and have crushed the beliefs of others. We have seen so many rise up in the church that have taken it for themselves and forgotten the one that they are here to serve.
And it was the same when this passage was written. There were shepherds rising up to flock the people of God, but there intentions were wrong and their hearts were far. They came to gather for themselves and not for the people and it’s turned people away from the one they were supposed to be serving.
This passage reminds and reassures us of the one who truly is the shepherd who won’t let us down like these shepherds have.

We will know the voice of our God by His love. But not only His love, but His peace. He is the Prince of Peace.
We will also know the voice of our God by His provision. Not by the things we want but by the things we need. When we place our lives under the guidance of His provision, we will see how He always comes through in ways we didn't even know our lives were needing!
We will know the voice of our God by His blessing. In times of difficulty, He is always there to comfort and lift us up. He never leaves us alone and never leaves us without His lving care. Pray for the courage to open your eyes to His daily blessings in your life!
We will know the voice of our God by His freedom. Free will isn't that we can do whatever we want but that we come under His sovereignity so much so that we crave following His voice. And in that, we find freedom. Because we realise that it's not all up to us but that we can lean on Him becuase He is our God over it all!
But it all comes down to love.
We will know the voice of our Lord by His love.
- Passage to focus on
““For this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I myself will search and find my sheep. I will be like a shepherd looking for his scattered flock. I will find my sheep and rescue them from all the places where they were scattered on that dark and cloudy day. I will bring them back home to their own land of Israel from among the peoples and nations. I will feed them on the mountains of Israel and by the rivers and in all the places where people live. Yes, I will give them good pastureland on the high hills of Israel. There they will lie down in pleasant places and feed in the lush pastures of the hills. I myself will tend my sheep and give them a place to lie down in peace, says the Sovereign Lord.”
