The age old ‘getting out of a Christian life’ thought…. If we all get a chance to answer for ourselves on the end day, and we know that grace covers all so. And Jesus will redeem all who answer to Him… why should we ‘waste our time’ obeying His ways now?
We’ll read about this today…
- Read Romans 6
In the Message Version
- Devotional Thought
Offering your all to God opens the door to more freedom than you could take hold of yourself. The realisation of His grace in and over your life opens the door for abundant life to grow. We’re never capable enough on our own and we need a saviour, however, we only ever limit ourselves if we live a life or limiting God.
He can redeem all sin, but that doesn’t mean we just continue sinning! The gift of freedom means you’re no longer bound to falling trap to sin. The gift of Freedom means that you are handed the ultimate pathway to a Kingdom life right here on Earth. Don't destroy your freedom by trying to free yourself because your flesh will always lead you away from God's perfect will, yet submitting to Him and allowing His Perfect will to guide and mould you will open the door to a better outcome than you could've wished for!
- Passage to focus on
“So, since we’re out from under the old tyranny, does that mean we can live any old way we want? Since we’re free in the freedom of God, can we do anything that comes to mind? Hardly. You know well enough from your own experience that there are some acts of so-called freedom that destroy freedom. Offer yourselves to sin, for instance, and it’s your last free act. But offer yourselves to the ways of God and the freedom never quits. All your lives you’ve let sin tell you what to do. But thank God you’ve started listening to a new master, one whose commands set you free to live openly in his freedom!
But now that you’ve found you don’t have to listen to sin tell you what to do, and have discovered the delight of listening to God telling you, what a surprise! A whole, healed, put-together life right now, with more and more of life on the way! Work hard for sin your whole life and your pension is death. But God’s gift is real life, eternal life, delivered by Jesus, our Master.”

Father
We are sorry for the times that we have tried to find our own way and our own path by separating ourselves from you. We remember that you gave us the ultimate gift when you surrendered your place in the Heavenly realm to reach down to us. We know that the only will that is right for our life is your will for our life! So we ask you again today for the eyes to see what that means in our life and how we can begin to follow you along that path even more closely. Amen.
- Active idea
There's a saying about a prisoner who was once chained and behind a locked door having the chain removed and the door unlocked. But the prisoner had numbed themself to the circumstance and couldn't see that things had changed.
We know that the gift Jesus gave when He died on the cross was for our freedom yet we sometimes walk around like that prisoner, still thinking that we're chained up and locked in when we're really not at all!
Thank you for joining me today! Hope to see you again soon!
Have a blessed Lent
