The power of Prayer.... Do you believe Prayer has the power to transform things?
- Read James 5
In the New International Version
- Devotional Thought
Though we are not the blessed ones who walked side by side with Jesus when He was on earth, or one of the Israelites who were under Moses' guidances, or any of the people in the Scriptures... We have the gift of the entire book of the Bible. We have story after story of the lives of people who lived for God, we can read about the walk of those who have gone before us and how their faith was lived in their lives.
And one of the key moments of all of those people is PRAYER!
Even Jesus prayed!
Prayer was designed as a gift from God to allow us the priceless opportunity to talk to Him. That's what differentiates Christianity from any other so called religion. It's not a religion. It's a living relationship where you get to communicate with your maker. You get to speak to Him about what's going on in your life. You get to commune with Him and listen for His guidance. You get to co-labour with Him in bringing His Kingdom to earth through your life!
Life as a Christian isn't following a big set of rules called the 10 commandments. It's walking after thousands upon thousands who have given their life to the living and active Word of God which was brought to us through Jesus and continues in us through the Spirit.
If we see them communicate to their maker in prayer, how much more should we also be encouraged to communicate with our maker in prayer!
- Passage to focus on
"Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise.
Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord.
And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.
Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective."
James 5vs13~16 NIV
- Image for today
Prayer communicates with Heaven... like a ladder reaching us up to sit in the arms of our Father.
- Prayer
Father,
Even as we read these prayers each day, we arre so aware that we can easily forget the importance of prayer and the importance of keeping our communication lines with you open.
We know that you have so much to tell us and so much to share with us throughout our lives, yet we can be hesitant to continue our dialogue with you.
Help us to pick up our time with you again, intentional and uninterrupted time with you!
- Active idea
Where are times and places in your life today where you can insert a time of prayer? Remember that it doesn't have to be big scale or lofty. It jst need to be with Him.
Thank you for joining me today! Hope to see you again soon!
Have a blessed Lent
