Wait and Worship

(Luke 24vs44~53 NIV)
"He said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.”
Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. He told them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.”

When he had led them out to the vicinity of Bethany, he lifted up his hands and blessed them. While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up into heaven. Then they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy. And they stayed continually at the temple, praising God."

We all have a desire for a purpose, we have a desire to do things and to be something!

But our deep desire is rooted in the human hearts design to walk with God.

We can pursue all we want and try make a life for ourself that ticks the boxes of the world.

But that will never be enough.

Why?

Read these two parts of scripture again....

I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.”
Then they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy. And they stayed continually at the temple, praising God."

He will send you out in a comission, but you have to wait for God to equip you with His power.

Until His sending comes.... Worship Him!

The problem with the way we do life in the world now is that we jump ahead of God's timing and we forget that He is the reason we are here!

We can do nothing without Him so why do we keep trying to achieve what's not in His plan for us?

Our purpose is to love Him, love others and tell others about Him!

Becuase we have lost the art of trust Him enough for this purpose to fulfill our everyday.

The whole idea of faith is that we are not in control, but that God is!

I'm learning this deeply in the way that I have just walked out of a very busy season of a month long acting contract. And I find myself in a transition period, not quite knowing what's next! It's a constant fight in my mind to not fall prey to thinking that right now is not good enough, that because I don't know what's next, I can't rest.

And that's not true!

Becuase I can't know what's next if I am not focusing on Jesus... I won't hear His voice over my life if I am not giving my time to Him, elevating Him in my life and letting Him guide me.

It's a fight to resist the urge to go out and find job to feel busy and to appear like I am achieving something with my life.

Is right now not enough? Is praising God not enough? Is waiting for Him to move not enough?

When I read this part of Scripture and these two verse in particular, I was reminded of this....

God has a plan for you, but you must wait for Him to give you the power and annointing in His timing. Until the commissioning comes, Worship Him!

And that's my encouragement to you today! Wait for God and as you wait, Worship!

There's nothing more worth your time than Worship.

It's what we'll be doing for all of eternity so you may as well begin now!
