Longing for Jesus

At the core of every human being is a void that only Jesus can fill.

No soul searching or self-help will do.....

The longing for fulfullment in your purpose and destiny is not found in the fleeting moments on earth,

Your purpose and destiny is found in Jesus....

That longing you can't shake....

That's a longing for Jesus....

Whether you're aware of it or not, your heart and flesh are crying out for Him.

"Humbly I come to You now

Thirsty for the living water

My heart and my flesh cry out

More of You

Jesus You are all I want

Jesus You are all my soul desires

Jesus You are all I need

My heart and my flesh

Cry out for You."

When I first heard this song, I felt inspired...

Not inspired in that I felt I needed to use it to produce another piece of choreography or write another blog post or create anoterh painting....

But inspired to spend time in the presence of the Lord.

I felt my heart beat with excitement to encounter my Lord.

I felt the simply call to be in His presence.

I felt my Heart and Flesh cry out for Him

I listened to these words and felt the agreement in my soul.

There is nothing that completes my deep inner longing than Jesus.

No matter what I face in my life, no matter the obstacles I face... the small and the big, the disappointment and the sorrow and the celebration and the joy, the expectated and the uncertain... every moment is a moment to be in the presence of the Lord.

I love what Leeland says about the song in a recent interview;

'Heart and Flesh' invites the listener to be a place of habitation for the presence of the Lord....It’s Christ’s abiding presence that satisfies the thirst in my soul, accepts my doubts and questions, and yet covers me with peace."

I felt that invitation!

I also discovered that this song draws inspiration from Psalm 84 which is an incredible Psalm that celebrates the presence of the Lord.

Psalm 84 transcribes the indelible longing of all of creation for the Creator. The entire universe is factored around the call to be close to God, His brilliance is evident in every creature, every place, all times of the day. From the birds in their nests, to the Pilgrim on a journey, to the changing of the seasons

All of creation speaks of God, the sunshine and the birds chirping, the waves crashing on the beach and the seasons of nature, it all sings the song of the life in awe of its creator...

Psalm 84 also speaks of the blessing bestowed on the one who's heart is turned towards the Maker. It speaks of the great reward found in the pursuit of being near to Him....

Not a reward of physical things or grand promotion..... but the reward of the beautiful proximity of the one called Jesus

Take a moment now to read this over yourself. Sit back in the wonder of seeking Him first.

(Psalm 84 NIV)
"How lovely is your dwelling place, LORD Almighty!
My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the LORD; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.

Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young— a place near your altar, LORD Almighty, my King and my God.
Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising you.
Blessed are those whose strength is in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage.
As they pass through the Valley of Baka, they make it a place of springs; the autumn rains also cover it with pools.
They go from strength to strength, till each appears before God in Zion.
Hear my prayer, LORD God Almighty; listen to me, God of Jacob.
Look on our shield, O God; look with favor on your anointed one.

Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.
For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless.
LORD Almighty, blessed is the one who trusts in you."

After encountering the presence of the Lord listening to this song and feeling the Love of the Father so present, so tangible... I had to dance to it!

In the video description, I mention Psalm 61. When thinking about what the words of the song brought up in my heart, this was a firm thought....

(Psalm 61vs1~3 TPTP)
"O God, hear my prayer. Listen to my heart’s cry. For no matter where I am, even when I’m far from home, I will cry out to you for a father’s help. When I’m feeble and overwhelmed by life, guide me into your glory, where I am safe and sheltered. Lord, you are a paradise of protection to me. You lift me high above the fray. None of my foes can touch me when I’m held firmly in your wraparound presence!"

The wraparound presence of the Lord is what this song reminds me of. The reality that life isn't easy and things come our way that are far beyond our capability. Things that require far deeper strength than we could find in ourselves...

And that's because we weren't designed to face this world on our own, we were made to do it in companionship with God!

Here's my encouragement to you....

Think back to what you last feld overwhelmed. When was the last moment that was simply too much to handle?

And then think about the process it took to take you to that place of the final straw? Was it possibly because you had lost sight of God as the overseer. When we loose sight of Him, we leave behind our ability to walk in thankfulness. And when we let go of thankfulness, we take hold of complaining.

"Complaining is the language of unbelief. Nobody complains who sees God's role in the middle of their situation. The complaint only happens because we're lost sight of who He is and where He is."

Loosing sight of the Father and His work in your life opens the doorway to unbelief. Unbelief works it's way into our lives in various forms but evidently in the fact that it pulls us away from abiding in the presence of the Lord.

Friend, we were designed to walk with Jesus. This means our everyday happenings take place with Him and alongside Him.

Don't get sucked away by the pressures of life, or even the good things in life! Always bring it back to His presence because that's what you were truly made for!
