Giants

Anxiety is a giant

So is depression

And fear

As is Overwhelm, chaos, confusion, fatigue and worry

It's a good thing God raises the lowly to kill the giants.

The Christian walk isn't a numbness to the trials, troubles and tribulations of life but an awakening to a strength of overcoming that does not come from you. You were made to overcome, to rise up, to grow from strength to strength ~ not of your own accord but from a source beyond you, the source of the Lord

But listen when I say, to become strong implies you walk from weakness. To deepen in wisdom indicates that you once knew less.

To flourish in courage requires stepping from fear.

When David faced his giant, Goliath, he was going about his normal life on a normal day. In his act of obedience, following a task his father asked of him, his giant loomed. Not unlike when you are faced with giants as you go through your daily walk. But it was in the moment when he was scorned by his brothers, judged for his courage to speak out, his skills and talents disregarded and unrecognised and his unique method of attack looked down upon that God raised him up to overcome. When he was deemed unqualified by the ones at the front of the battle line, God anointed him with a heavenly ability and a supernatural confidence to believe he could overcome.

When all looked impossible and he could be tormented by the giant.

Yet he was not.

Although he may have been shrinking under the scale of the enemy, he chose to rise up with the voice of His Lord.

1 Samuel 17vs45~50

David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.
This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head.
This very day I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds and the wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel.
All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.”
As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him.Reaching into his bag and taking out a stone, he slung it and struck the Philistine on the forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell facedown on the grounds.
So David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone; without a sword in his hand he struck down the Philistine and killed him.

You may not be facing a life threatening Philistine, but the scale of the method that the demonic realm will threaten the believers in this world are nasty. But the truth is that these giants are external obstacles rising up from outside forces waiting to rise up against your pursuit of following the Lord. They are not of you, but an arrow of the enemy willing you off path. They are not visible but spiritual.

Fear is not in your DNA, ill mental health is not in your DNA, and even if you may have fallen into a dark path of habit ~ it's just that ~ a habit that has been learnt..... habitual thoughts, actions and decisions that have walked you away from your identity of being made in the image of God.

You were made for greater things, created for a higher purpose and as you walk forward in life, the giants will rise against you . Just like David did not walk through his life with a giant looming over him, but as he walked forward with the anointing of the Lord on his life, the world brought a seemingly impossible obstacle to his path and God used it to elevate him!

But David only had to stand in the certainty of his sonship in the kingdom and believe that God created him for greatness and his walk would be held secure.

Giants don't dissolve with "positive thinking" or mindfulness. They aren't swayed by happy thoughts or ignorance!! They're literally melted by the truth of your God. They are chained and bound by the power of His spirit at work in you when you choose to partner with HIM!

David's giant wasn't defeated but his own doing. It was the supernatural power of the Lord through the choice he made to believe he would overcome.

Choose to overcome your giant and you will, by the power of your God.

"I met Goliath on a day that I did not foresee
I'm not a soldier, never expected to be
But he shouts at my kin, and mocks them as he turns his back
It's not so much glory as honour that drives me to act"

Take heart and believe you were made to overcome
